Eyebrow & Eyelash Tinting
Eyebrow and eyelash tinting uses specially formulated vegetable-based dyes to provide a semi-permanent colour tint, which can dramatically enhance your eyes and take years off your appearance. Not only that, you can ditch your mascara and brow pencils for up to 4 weeks if you want! Men should also take note that it works just as well them. Try it once and you'll be hooked.
Why would I have my eyebrows & lashes tinted?
Well, there are a number of reasons which could apply to you, such as:
- To match/compliment a (radical) change of hair colour
- To cover grey hairs
- To give you thicker looking brows and lashes
- To enhance and define your facial features
- To avoid or minimise the use of mascara, or brow pencils (especially useful for sporting types)
Is it safe?
It must be emphasised that salon tinting is much safer than using trying to dye your eyebrows at home with hair dye, which a lot of women (and no doubt men) do - a complete no no! Applying harsh chemicals anywhere near the eyes is extremely hazardous and really should not be carried out. On the contrary, by going to a professional salon and having treatments by qualified therapists is the only way of minimising such risks. We carry out patch tests at least 24 hours before treatment and only use professional standard vegetable dyes, along with eye barriers and skin blocks.
How is done?
The first step is of course the consultation and patch test, which will be at least 24 hours before the first treatment. Should there be no reaction, the treatment can take place - the skin around the brows will be rubbed with a skin block to stop unwanted staining. For lashes, a plastic guard is placed under the lower lashes. The tint will then be applied and allowed to develop for 5-10 minutes, after which it will be removed with cotton wipes.
Please note that the tint will tend to stain the skin underlying the brows once treated, making them appear "darker" in the first day or two than they really are. Especially after your first treatment, don't worry if your brows look a bit "full on", as the difference may seem a bit more than you were expecting, but you'll get used to this in a day - the same goes for partners, friends and family! We almost always find that you will get complimented and love it yourself - it's a great cheap way of "looking good"!
How long does it last
Tinting is often described as semi-permanent, not because the dye fades, but because the eyebrow and lash hairs have a very short growth cycle, as they will fall out within 6-8 weeks. We advise that the tint should last 3-4 weeks.
